Do you treat pregnant or postpartum mothers?Yes! We use hands-on osteopathic treatments to support mothers throughout pregnancy and the postpartum period. Our goal is to ensure that all body parts are free from restrictions and able to move, allowing the body to adapt to growth and changes of pregnancy. With optimized mobility, birthing parents and babies can be better positioned for optimal birth outcomes. Labor and delivery can leave mothers feeling physically, mentally, and emotionally drained. Regardless of whether the delivery was cesarean, vaginal, assisted, at home, or in a hospital, optimizing the body’s structure post-delivery with osteopathic treatment can aid in faster recovery and healing. We address structural imbalances by focusing on the pelvis, fascia, blood flow, lymphatic drainage, and the autonomic nervous system. Common structural imbalances that can present as uneven leg length, pelvic or back pain, while fascial imbalances may cause pulls or kink the tissues in specific areas. Complications with lymphatic or blood flow might result in leg swelling, puffiness, carpal tunnel-like symptoms, varicose veins, hemorrhoids, or painful breast engorgement. Autonomic nervous system imbalances could manifest as constipation, abnormal breast milk supply, or mood swings. As osteopathic physicians, we take a holistic approach to the body and address the issues we identify. Click here to schedule an appointment.

What sets DOs apart from chiropractors? The main distinctions between osteopathic physicians (DOs) and chiropractors lie in their training and practice scope. DOs are licensed physicians nationally, while chiropractors do not hold the same broad licensure. DOs undergo extensive residency training in a inpatient and outpatient setting. Osteopathic physicians specialize in all aspects of anatomy, addressing the entire body from head to toe. This encompasses fascia, bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, muscles, nerves, organs, and other structures. Our osteopathic treatments offer a more holistic and thorough approach compared to others. DOs consider how issues in one part of the body can influence the entire system and vice versa.

Do you offer Cranio-Sacral TherapyDr. Keaton is trained and experienced in osteopathic cranial treatments, which are more advanced and distinct from Cranio-Sacral Therapy. The key difference between Osteopathy in the Cranial Field and Cranio-Sacral Therapy lies in the practitioner's level of training. Dr. William Sutherland, who introduced the cranial concept in 1929, viewed Cranial Osteopathy as a natural extension of Dr. Andrew Still’s osteopathic philosophy, rather than a separate specialty. Osteopathy in the Cranial Field is integrated into a comprehensive diagnosis and treatment plan tailored to each patient. Training in this field is available through educational institutions only to those with DO, MD, or dental degrees. Cranio-Sacral Therapy, introduced by Dr. Upledger—a DO—was derived from some of Dr. Sutherland’s principles and led to the establishment of the Upledger Institute. Certification can be achieved after as little as 4 days of training. While DOs are trained to perform all aspects of Cranio-Sacral Therapy, the reverse is not true for these therapist and the osteopathic cranial manipulation.

How long are appointments and how often do you see patients?Initial consultation: 50 minutes Return visits: 25 minutes Additional time, at a cost, may be requested depending on availability Depending on your specific situation or conditions, we will discuss what your treatment plan would look like during your visit, as this varies with every unique person. At Restore, we believe that every health care plan should be based off evidence-based medicine, empirical experience of the physician and personal preferences of the patient. As such, upon receiving our expert opinion, we encourage the patient to take a more active role in their own care and in the decision-making process. Some acute problems are resolved in as little as two visits, spaced 1 -2 weeks apart. Many patients choose to include us in the care of their chronic problems, either weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly. Some patients check in 3-4 times per year, or only as needed. For younger patients, as little as two treatments can make all the difference.
